RuneScape is a role playing game in a world with monsters to kill quest to complete and treasures to win.
There is a Free version where you are restricted to certain areas and a Members version where there is no restrictions.

That is the decision of the player as there is nothing predetermined. Many players enjoy fighting in combat hunting out powerful beasts. Some prefer to destroy their enemies from a far with magic or missile weapons. The game is not limited to combat. You might want to become a craftsmen within in the community and make weapons for the war. Some players would prefer to just wander around sightseeing meeting other players and characters, or completing quests. ( Note) All characters which are the players are real people)
In RuneScape there is secondary characters that are as much of a threat as the other players can be. The characters can be found anywhere and have the ability to be passive or aggressive, so players need to be aware of them at all times while playing. Just like the real world.
There are many skill you can develop in RunseScape which are varied as the life you might lead. Mining, Fishing, Cooking, Woodcutting, Crafting, Farming. Defense Aqility, Construction and Firemaking and many more. Many players choose to specialize in just one skill. You will usually find them clustered together in the very best places for practicing their chosen skill.
Playing the game for the first time you will be presented with a character design page. As you will become a character. You will have the options to redesign your character. You will then be directed to Tutorial island where your character will begin their life. You will learn the basics and be taken through various skills by instructors, including Casting Spells, Fishing, Mining, Combat and much more. When you have completed your tutorial you will be transported to the town of Lumbridge where your RuneScape adventures will truly begin.

Games Room
The prince who live in the village of Burthrope opens his games room in his castle to the public to attract gamers from around RuneScape. There are four games one can play in the Games Room: Runelink, Draughts, Runesquares and Runevers.You can get to Burthorpe by either walking or using a games necklace. You can either craft a games necklace yourself or buy one from another player. Such items as necklaces, rings and amulets can have spells cast upon them, which in turn can help with a further skill. This makes Crafting a valuable skill to have. You can use your skills in Magic to enhance the power of jewellery.
